In the process of completing a degree specializing in Small Business Management at West Virginia University, John founded "Riversport Whitewater Recreation Center" in Confluence, PA. Upon selling Riversport in 1987, he acquired a Real Estate Broker’s license and joined Business Brokers of America under the tutelage of David Brown. In 1989, he pioneered the concept of single agency “buyer side” business brokerage with a company called Business Acquisition Team, Inc. He became interested in direct mail marketing in 1991 and started a company called Postal Delivery System, Inc. to drop ship direct mail and parcels into postal facilities throughout the country. After selling the company, He returned to Southwestern PA in 2001, where he served as Coordinator of the Institute of Advanced Technology for the Community College of Allegheny County and worked as bilingual customer service agent for National City Home Loan Services before returning to the “noble field of Business Brokerage” with Sunbelt of Pittsburgh in 2006. On November 11, 2008, Mr. Lichter opened the Sunbelt Office of Northern West Virginia. He is actively recruiting and training a select team of professional business brokers to represent serious buyers as well as sellers. His goal is to bring professional business brokerage to rural counties in Northern WV, Southwestern PA and Western MD, providing a positive economic impact to those communities in the process. John resides in Morgantown, WV with his wife: Ann Lawson and Ann’s daughter: Seneca. His outside interests include paddling whitewater rivers, ice hockey, skiing, and bike riding. He likes to visit his daughter, Veronica, who works, lives and plays in Brooklyn, NY.

Kent is a registered Architect and continues to provide architectural design and project management services in southwestern PA. With over 30 years of experience, he understands what defines quality construction and how to evaluate a building and its’ site relative to its’ intended use. Kent is also very familiar with the small businesses that make up the design and construction industry and what makes them successful. He has previously served as a Senior Associate and a Principal at design firms in Pittsburgh before moving to Confluence, PA in the spring of 2010 to start his own company. Kent enjoys analyzing a companies’ financials and designing an exit strategy to maximize the value of the business for the seller. He specializes in professional service and retail businesses as well as wholesale distribution. Kent works out of the Grantsville, MD location with easy access to clients in Northern WV, SW PA and Western MD.

Cathy McCollom has chosen to join the Sunbelt network as an experienced entrepreneur and regional leader in community and economic development. She graduated with honors from Purdue University in seven semesters earning degrees in Psychology and History. For over two decades, Cathy contributed to the City of Pittsburgh and the region as the Chief Program Officer for the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation. She recently served as Director of the Trail Towns Program; an economic and community revitalization initiative in nine communities bordering the Great Allegheny Passage. This successful program launched 55 new businesses creating 227 jobs in the area in just over three years. Cathy plans to continue to serve the community as well as business owners by assisting them in valuing their businesses and creating effective exit strategies to maximize the sales price. She specializes in the sale of retail and service businesses in the corner of PA, MD and WV.
